Halaloffice, 's-Gravenhage

The Control Office of Halal Slaughtering (COHS) in the Netherlands was founded in 1980. The original activities of this office were mainly directed towards halal slaughtering methods. Around 1996 it became evident that the Moslem communities in Europe wanted more than just halal assurance on meat products. Food and nutrition producer became more and more confronted with the desire and demand for the halal certification for food and nutrition products. Since food and nutrition monitoring and certification demanded specific expertise, The Halal European Certification Office for Food and Nutrition, or in brief The Office for Halal Quality Control (HQC), was then founded (by Mr. A.M. Al Chaman) as a separate department from COHS. The HQC office is strongly supported by laboratory experts (headed by Dr. A. El Helali) responsible for biochemistry/ biotechnology assessment. In 1997 the first certificate from HQC was issued. During the last 20 years, the reputation for reliability and security of the two offices has been solidly established. The approved products mentioned in our halal certificate are qualified as to the strictest standards and absolutely suitable for Moslem consumption.
